Quartzdyne-compatible Testers and Transducer Simulators


October 2025: After 29 years as a provider of customised electronic designs for downhole applications, Avanti Elektronik is now scaling back its business operations. The limited company is in the process of being dissolved. Thereafter Avanti will continue as a sole proprietorship and focus primarily on Quartzdyne-compatible test equipment and transducer simulators, with a clear commitment to keeping these products available in the long term.


Quartz pressure transducers are widely used in the oil and gas industries to measure downhole pressure and temperature with very high accuracy.

Quartzdyne (now part of ChampionX) is the world's leading manufacturer of such precision transducers.

The first generation of Quartzdyne transducers had pressure/temperature-proportional frequency outputs. These are still available and are sometimes referred to as ‘analog’ transducers, which however is somewhat of a misnomer.

The majority of Quartzdyne transducers now include high resolution frequency counters and provide a two-wire serial I2C interface instead of the traditional frequency outputs. Due to their digital interface they are often referred to as 'digital' pressure transducers.

Avanti supports both types of transducers with the following range of products:

  • AVA-01: 'Analog' Quartz Transducer Simulator - Substitutes a high precision quartz pressure / temperature transducer with FREQUENCY OUTPUTS (1st generation Quartzdyne transducer) and allows comprehensive testing and characterisation of downhole acquisition systems in the absence of a real transducer.

  • AVA-06: Low Cost 'Analog' Quartz Transducer Simulator - This is a simplified version of the above AVA-01 simulator with FREQUENCY OUTPUTS. A simpler design with fewer features but at a significantly lower cost. Ideal for production testing.

  • AVA-02: 'Digital' Quartzdyne Simulator - Substitutes a pressure / temperature transducer equipped with a two-wire I2C INTERFACE (digital Quartzdyne transducer) for testing of data acquisition systems in the absence of real transducers.

  • AVA-03: 'Digital' Quartzdyne Tester & PC-Interface - Communicates with up to 4 digital quartz transducers via an I2C INTERFACE and displays pressure and temperature readings on a 2-line LCD. Contains an RS232 interface for accessing readings and calibration coefficients with a PC.

  • AVA-07: Single Chip Quartz Transducer Counter - Counts pressure and temperature frequencies of an 'analog' quartz transducer and returns the results through a 'digital' Quartzdyne compatible I2C interface, so that 1st generation transducers can be given a new lease of life

  • AVA-08: Frequency Transducer to Q-Link Interface - Allows the connection of up to 4 'analog' quartz transducers to a Quartzdyne Q-Link device.
