Quartz Transducers are widely used in the oil industry for measuring downhole
pressure and temperature with very high accuracy. Traditionally these transducers have
frequency outputs.
The Avanti AVA-01 Quartz Transducer Simulator was designed to substitute a real
transducer when testing data acquisition systems. Besides being cheaper
it also provides better control and repeatability of test parameters. It is
particularly useful for testing accuracy, resolution and time-keeping and for
spotting any counting irregularities (e.g. needles).
The simulator generates 3 crystal controlled frequencies:
A pressure frequency (PF), a temperature frequency (TF) and a reference signal
(REF). Direct Digital Synthesis (DDS) is employed, which provides variable yet
quartz-stable signals with very low phase noise.
Frequencies, sweep parameters and profile parameters are programmed by means
of 5 rotary switches and 4 push buttons. Instructions are printed onto the
front panel, which make the simulator very easy to use without a user
manual.
