Avanti Time Multiplex Telemetry Simulator (Sondex/Maxim).

Avanti Time Multiplex Simulator Screen Shot Showing 16 Channel Mode
Time Multiplex Telemetry (sometimes also called Pulse Position Telemetry) is widely used in the oil field to transmit frequency information from sensor modules to a central processing unit (e.g. a memory module). This is due to the fact that only fairly simple circuitry is required in the sensor modules and that communication pulses can be easily superimposed onto the supply, so that no extra connections are required.

The Avanti Time Multiplex Telemetry Simulator was designed with compatibility to Sondex and Maxim tools in mind and can substitute a complete tool string of up to 16 channels.

Channels can be set individually to generate a range of frequencies or CCL signals, including alternating frequencies (every 10 min) and single CCL pips (every 30 sec). Alternating frequencies can be used for testing the time keeping of logging systems. The pips option is useful for checking whether the logging system captures sporadic CCL signals reliably. The simulator also incorporates detection of missing or multiple synch pulses.

Programmable Logic is used throughout, which allows virtually any interval and delay times to be implemented on request. Instructions are printed onto the front panel, which makes the simulator very easy to use without a user manual.
